Rare Medication

About us

We answer supply questions, then help you find a source

Rare Medication is a B2B-oriented global sourcing platform for availability and quotation requests related to specialty, rare, and hard-to-find medicines for licensed healthcare organizations.

Why this site exists

When a medicine goes into shortage, the people who feel it first are the patient at the counter and the pharmacy technician on the phone. The national lists that record the shortage are public, but they are written for regulators, not for the person holding the prescription.

So we do two things. We publish, for every medicine in our directory, whether the FDA currently lists it as short, with the date we checked. And when a medicine cannot be filled locally, we take the request to the licensed wholesalers and distributors we work with and come back with a straight answer.

How we work

Sources are named
Every supply statement on this site says where it came from and when it was checked. If we cannot reach the source, the page says so rather than guessing.
Anyone can ask
Patients and families can send a request, not only licensed organizations. Routing to suppliers depends on what the destination country allows, not on who you are.
Licensed channels only
We work through authorized wholesale and distribution channels. We do not facilitate unlicensed sales or personal import that breaks local rules.
No is an answer
If a medicine cannot be sourced for you, we say so. Going quiet is worse than a clear no when someone is waiting on treatment.

What we are not

  • We are not a pharmacy. We hold no stock and cannot dispense or ship medicines.
  • We are not a clinical service. Nothing here is medical advice, and dose or substitution decisions belong to your prescriber.
  • We are not a live stock dashboard. Supply status is national and can differ from what your pharmacy has today.
